People with diabetes are more likely to get very sick and experience complications of COVID-19. If you or a loved one has diabetes and tests positive for COVID-19, you may be a good candidate for an antiviral treatment to help reduce symptoms and your risk for hospitalization. These medications need to be started within days of first developing COVID-19 symptoms, so it is important to talk to your health care provider or pharmacist to see if one of these medications is a good option for you.

Available Treatments

At present, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved several oral antiviral medications and another that is administered by intravenous (in the vein) infusion.
